Book Love Evolution

I immediately felt for the MC, Avery, who deals with loss at the beginning of the story. Not only did she lose a brother but their promising career in music together. This event sends her on an unexpected journey to find where she fits in in the world of music without her twin. In doing so, she ends up trying out for guitarist of Brutal Strength, one of the biggest rock bands in the country. But the new position comes at a price—a price for Avery to give up her identity as a woman.

Pretending to be a man, she wins the position, but slowly, quietly, she falls in love with the lead singer, Marcus, and finds that she must finally choose between keeping her new gig or the love of her life.

The book was a great, fun read!!!! It's very obvious that the author has a strong background in the music business or took great care in researching the topic to make the experience extremely authentic. The love story is cute, appropriate for young readers, and the end scene gave me goosebumps. It had a very bittersweet ending!

I would recommend this to readers who enjoy chic lit with a rock and roll twist.
I'm looking forward to the next book!

Easy by Tammara Webber
Excellent story and well deserving of the hype!

The story begins with heavy subject matter, which is handled carefully and with respect through the duration of the book. The MC, Jacqueline, is immediately faced with a challenge that she initially shies way from, but eventually, with the urging of a new friend and her best friend, she fights head on.

The story is an excellent and realistic interpretation of college and Greek life. And I find myself amazed at the layers of details and research that must have been done to keep the classroom and personal environments authentic: music, art, economics, self defense. This is a very well-rounded book!

As for the romance, let me just say, "Thank you very much, Ms. Webber, for creating a truly deserving, swoon-worthy boyfriend!" The relationship grows from an uncomfortable secret into a lovely romance. I found myself rooting for Lucas and Jacqueline from the very beginning.

Pain rips across my stomach. The cramp, so severe, causes me to double over my withering frame. I want to reach for my mother the way I did when I was a child, but she's sicker than I. Her poor swollen, blue limbs hang from a cot in the corner. A blanket wraps her feverish body, blocking her face. Sadness overwhelms me, because I know within hours, she will die.

A man, a doctor perhaps, rushes to my aid. His eyes are a strange gold, much like honey. He grabs my clammy hand as I cough once more, hacking blood. He stiffens slightly. I must be a ghastly sight: sweat soaked clothes, skin—a sickly blue, all signs of the Spanish Influenza.

Instead of leaving me in pain as the others have done, he sits with me.

"What's your name?" he asks, pinching my wrist for a fading pulse.

"Edward Cullen," I whisper, trying not to move.

He lays a freshly dampened rag across my forehead. "Do you have a wife and family, Edward?"

I shake my head, happy that the answer is no. There will be no one left behind when I die—no one to weep for my passing.

"Will she suffer much longer?" I slowly drop my head toward my mother and wince.

"No—not much longer. I'm very sorry," he says. His voice is low and comforting. I nod.

The doctor sits and chats with me here and there. I answer when I can but at times, my lingering strength only allows me to nod yes or no. Finally I pass out, too exhausted with the raging heat of the flu to keep my eyes open.

At some point during my spiraling illness, there's a whisper tickling my ear. Maybe this is my angel of death, finally come to take me away from this awful pain.

"I will save you. Please forgive me, Edward," the angel says sadly.

With a sharp pinch to my neck, death has come. My eyes shoot open, grasping for the last image of this dear short life. My screaming mouth chokes a final breath of air. I collapse, lifeless, waiting to lift away, fly to the angels, but I don't. Instead, somehow, I sink into flames. They lick my soul with the depths of hell, raging and weaving an inferno within my veins, cracking and sizzling my insides over and over again.

"Think of a beautiful life," my angel offers. "Focus on love," he suggests.

At his bidding I fight the fire, looking to see the light of it. I look for love, for heaven, a soft place to rest my head. The vision grows from a hazy nothing into perfection: pink lips, cream skin, and brown eyes that flutter. She pushes her long dark waves away from her face, bites her lip coyly, and lays back into the sprigs of purple wild flowers blowing in the wind within a circular field. She is perfection; she is Love. I kneel to be closer, and she pulls me to her, sweeping her kisses across my trembling neck. I'm embarrassed by her aggressiveness, but it makes me long to be closer to her. I lay my head on her chest, hearing her heart skip several beats, and then I gather her into an embrace. Her body flushes with heat beneath mine.

I awake from my death, from my dream, somehow saved, with Love's beautiful name pressed upon my lips. "Isabella."
